HOK candies (KBC series) are not "real" candies, they are simply basecoat paints that when dry and cleared over, look like a properly prepared candy paint job. These colors are easy to spray and create a color that will not be hard to match if you need to touchup anything, or if you are painting parts separately. They are just basecoats, so if you have sprayed a basecoat color before these will be just as easy to use. There is NO NEED for a metallic ground coat under these colors, they have the metallic flake already mixed in them and they are not translucent enough for a ground coat to show through properly.
HOK paints are a little hotter than other paints we sell, and you should be careful when spraying the first few coats of color over your primer. Try spraying the first coat in an even light-medium coat, let it flash off (5-10 minutes) then spray another light-med coat, and after that flashes (same time as before) you should be good to go with a heavier coat if you like. Just keep painting until you are happy with the results!
